Analysis
“Sweetest Love, I do not go,
For weariness of three”
The present song of John Donne deals with the theme of love but here love which is express is of the moment of Separation.
Sweetest Love, I do not go,
For weariness of tree,
Nor in hope the world can show
A fitter love for me;
But since that I
Must die at last, ‘tis best
To use myself in jest
hus by feign’d deaths to die.
hus by feign’d deaths to die.
“Yesternight the sun went hence,
And yet is here today;
He hath no desire nor sense,
Nor half so short a way;
Then fear not me
But believe that I shall make
Speedier journeys, since I take
More wings and spurs than he”
the sun that had gone away the last night has all ready come back though the has no desire sense to come back so early compand to the sun the has a sense and a desire to come back and him path is not so long as this the path of the sun this is how the lover tries to assure his beloved just like the sun he would come back again he would like to make a speedier journey with the wing of desire to come back so there is no cause for the beloved to be sad the lover thou comments on how weak mankind is though mankind makes it claim to be very powerful,
O how feeble is man’s power
That if good fortune fall,
Cannot add another hour,
Not a lost hour recall!
But come bad chance
And we join to it our strength,
And we teach it art and length,
Itself o’er us to advance
if man is passing through happy time he cannot add one moment more to his happy at the sometime man is not capable to bring back happy days. At the most man can remember those happy days but when those days are remembered it adds to pain of that person the lover tries to his beloved mentally for separation by the way of death it both are together even death cannot destroy that love.
“When thou sigh’st, thou sig’st not windsi
But sigh’s my soul away;
When thou weep’st, unkindly kind,
My life’s blood doth decay.
It cannot be
That thou lov’st me, as thou say’st,
If in thine my life thou waste,
That art the best of me’
The lover make is special request to his beloved not to sigh or shade tears when she sigh he feels as if his soul would come out because his soul in her if see weeps he feel that his blood is coming out in the form of tears he tells her not to waste his soul and blood in this manner if she really loves me.
“Let us not dividing heart
Forethink me an ill;
Destiny may take thy part,
And may thy fears fulfil;
But think that we
Are but turn’d aside to sleep;
They who one another keep
Alive, ne’er parted be”.
Final request of the lovers to his love is that she should not thing anything bad about him he tries to assure he that if they fate has decided to separate them they would remain sigh by side in there grave it would be the death of body but not of that love.The present poem’s sings the glory of immortal love nothing, can separate those lovers whose is true the lover in the present poem considers death as fake death because for lover if there is any unfortunate incident learning to separation that is the real death for lovers.
